The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at the Municipality Playground, Barpeta. The programme commenced with the arrival of the DC, Barpeta, the Chief Guest, Shri Rohan Kr. Jha, IAS, at the Barpeta Municipality Board, where a floral tribute was paid at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and the ceremonial lamp was lit by the chief guest and the other dignitaries.
