An Overview of the Department:-

Office of the District Transport Officer & Secretary Regional Transport Authority, Barpeta under the Transport Department, Govt. of Assam is primarily function to offer services to public in way of Vehicle Registration, Issuance of Driving License, Issuance of Fitness Certificate, Road Permit and all related works under the purview of Motor Vehicle Act, 2019 (Amended) and CMV Rules, 2020 and Assam Motor Vehicle Rules 2003.

Moreover District Transport Office, Barpeta also collects Govt. Revenue in a substantial proportion while providing services through “Vahan” and “Sarathi” online portals.

Different Service Provided by the Department:-

Registration of all kinds of vehicle, issue of Driving License, Issue of Conductor Certificate, Issue of Road Permit, Issue of Fitness Certificate of Vehicle and all related works under MV Act & Rules, AMV Rules 2003.

success stories:-

  1. Achieved the target of Rs. 28 Crores by collecting the amount of Rs. 28,68,20,405 for the year 2021-22. The percentage of achievement is 102.43%.
  2. Moreover in view of extensive Enforcement Checking and awareness programme undertaken the Road accident fatalities during the year 2022 in Barpeta District are 53% less in comparison to 2021.
