(i) ICDP & FSC, Howly :-
The Office of the Intensive Cattle Development project and Frozen Semen Centre is situated at Howly. It is headed by Officer-In-Charge , ICDP & FSC Howly. The main aim and objective of this office is to collect and store Frozen Semen straw and Liquid Nitrozen from Assam Livestock Development agency and supplied Frozen Semen straw of Cattle, Buffalo and Goat to 69 Artificial Insemination Centre (AIC) of Barpeta district and 33 AIC to Nalbari district.
(ii) Govt. Live-stock Farm, Barapetta (Year of the establishment: 1945-46):-
Aim and Objective: Background- Prior to implementation of the state cattle & Buffalo Breeding policy 2002, most of the cattle improvement programmes namely, Key Village & I.C.D.P. were implemented in the state without any policy frame work.

Indo-Australian Cattle Breeding Project, Barpetta:
Evaluation of cross breeding Programme using exotic breed-Jersey during I.C.D.P. Project Period, it reveals Crossbred female Progeny found most efficient for production characteristics viz-enhance Milk yield, early maturity and shorter inter-calving period than their local counter parts. Moreover the crossbreds were found adaptable in our agro-climatic management.
In view of significant genetic gain and economic benefits to the small, marginal and landless farmers, who own almost 90% of total Livestock in our state, avenue for rural employment and improved nutrition through Cattle development, the Govt. of Indian under Colombo plan accorded approval for establishment of Indo-Australian Jersey cattle breeding project at location of Govt. Livestock Farm Barapetta during the year 1973-74 for systemic production of Jersey Male Progeny-future Breeding Bulls or taking up Cross Breeding programme in the State.
Under the project, 192 Jersey heifers, 40 young Jersey Bulls and 10 young AMZ (Australian Milking Zebu) were imported from Australia. Progeny testing scheme: Govt. of India sanction Progeny Testing scheme for systemic evaluation of Jersey progeny Born in Indo Australia project.
