Main task of the Department for Disaster management

1. Pre disaster and during disaster

  • Awareness program for field staff
  • Maintenance of the embankment
  • Patrolling
  • Identification of the vulnerable reaches and preparation of scheme
  • Submission of scheme under SDRF to DDMA
  • Submission of contingency plan to District administration.
  • Preparation of flood drill estimate and stacking of flood fighting materials.
  • Collection and Transmission of water level data

2. Post disaster

  • Temporary closure of breach to prevent further inundation from the next wave of flood
  • Taking up urgent palliative measure to arrest bank erosion.
  • Implementation of ongoing and new schemes for permanent closing of breach and recoupment of damaged section after the flood season.
