ORGANISATIONAL STRUCTURE AND ITS STAFF STRENGTH, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Infrastructure

The district head quarter of the department, ‘Office of the Assistant Director, Handloom and Textiles’ is situated at Barpeta Town. The department has 5 nos. Weavers Extension Service Unit (WESU) situated at Barpeta, Chenga, Sarthebari, Pathsala and Sarupeta, 5 nos. Handloom Training Centre (HTC) situated at Barpeta, Sarthebari, Joshihatipara, Bahari,Majorchar and Nityananda, one Handloom Training Institute at Ganakkuchi, one Handloom Production Centre at Patbaushi and 98 nos registered Primary Weavers Co-operative Societies (PWCS) in the district. Again the district is divided in 8 (eight) Handloom Circle and the technical guidance in all respect is provided to the weavers of each circle by one Demonstrator.
