The Assistant Director, Handloom & Textiles, Barpeta under the Directorate of Handloom & Textiles, Assam is running 6(six) Handloom Training Centers throughout the Barpeta and Bajali District, situated at Barpeta, Kalayahati; Joshihatipara, Howly; Majarchar; Bahari; Sarthebari and only one at Nityananda (Bajali district) respectively to impart training for creating artisans and upgrading the skills on handloom weaving. The course duration of these centers is one year with intake capacity of 15 to 20 trainees per Centre per session. Stipend provision of Rs. 80/- only per trainee per month is available. A certificate is issued from the Directorate of Handloom & Textiles, Assam to the trainees on successful completion of the assessment at the end. Total capacity of these 6 Handloom Training Centers is 100 persons per year.
