The office of the Assistant Registrar of Coop: Societies only Sub-Divisional office for both Bajali & Barpeta Sub-Division is situated at the Ground Floor of the same building where the D.R.C.S. office is situated.

The postal address of the office also same as D.R.C.S. office i.e. Barpeta Bhawanipur Road, Kalayahati, Sundaridia, Near Krishi Bhaban, PO & Dist. Barpeta, Assam, Pin-781301. The office was established in the year 1962.

Services Provided:-

  1. Organisation and Registration of Primary level Cooperative Societies as per the provisions of the Assam Coop: Societies Act 2007.
  2. Conduct of Elections in sub-division level primary Cooperatives. (U/S 41)
  3. Settlement of disputes of sub-division level primary Cooperatives (U/S 92)
  4. Recovery of Loans issued by the cooperative societies (U/S 102)

Duties amd Responsibilities of An Assistant Registrar of COOP:Socities

  1. Supervision of all matters concerning credit, procurement, production and distribution (including PDS) through Cooperative Societies in the Sub-Divisions.
  2. Supervision of functioning of and offering guidance to all Cooperative Societies for their healthy growth and for benefit of the Cooperators/members.
  3. Formulation of Plan schemes other than State and regional level societies, submission of decentralised plan schemes to Deputy Registrar with intimation to Zonal Joint Registrar of and submission of other plan proposals to Zonal Joint Registrar with intimation to Deputy Registrar.
  4. Matters invested under Assam Cooperative Societies Act, 2007.
  5. Expansion of credit, achievement of agricultural credit, targets including all related matters.
  6. Recovery of loans by collective drive and other non-coercive measures.
  7. Matters relating to implementation of Money Lenders Act.
  8. Any other matter that may be entrusted by Govt./Registrar/Deputy Registrar/Zonal Joint Registrar from time to time.
